... I've learned single, double, and triple crochet, slip stitch, turning stitch, squares, and rounds. Everything still looks amateurish, because, well, it is. But it's becoming inexorably more acceptable, or a reasonable facsimile thereof. This is all very good except...

...When I looked for the Crawling Horror so I could review the beginnings of this endeavor, I couldn't find it. It has disappeared...

You can do it if I can that's for sure my friend. Its also a lot like riding a bike you don't forget once you've learned how. I'm working on an Afghan for my bed. Its bright yellow and rainbow blues, yellows, purples and so forth. It should be good when I'm done with it. Also, I am going to have my daughter show me how to email a picture from my picture cell phone. I now know I can email on it. I did not this before so I may get that artwork on yet.lol I know the infamous mysterious artwork.

I would like to learn how to make the different effects in the Afghans I've seen -- my grandmother used to make afghans with a ripple effect. If you do figure out how to email pictures with a cell phone, my email address is helen99@his.com - I'd love to see them.

Oh and do you know how to do a shell pattern. I used that one to make afghans and it makes a lovely stitch but also it is a strong long lasting one. Whatever you make with it will last a long time.

Well, I do now that you called it to my attention! (I looked it up and found a good website that explained what a shell stitch was). I've been using the 2 double crochet and 2 treble croshet shells for the purpose of increases when making rounds, but I but didn't know the right term for them until now.

I haven't tried the 3 and up shells yet. I like the way the 5 dc shells look - I might try some of them soon.

I do two together then three and repeat it throughout the work. It makes a lovely and tight stitch that will last. It really looks good with baby stitches too. Delicate and strong at the same time.

What is a baby stitch? Is that done by using a very tiny hook and fine yarn? I just found a beautiful chair throw at a thrift shop that I think had shells made with baby stitches in it (that's what it looks like - I will get a pic when I get a chance).

Anyway, I'll do the two-three pattern next and see how it looks.

You will love it. I think they look so lovely and they are strong too so they will last as long as you could hope for.

If you send them to me by email, I can upload them to the rialian.com server. Then we can link to them or display them from anywhere.

Great, I'm looking forward to that. I just took one of the cougar. It is almost finished but still is a bit rough. Needs a bit more detail, and if that one is sent to my email correctly(I sent that one myself), then I will take the others and send them, and forward them on to you. That should be good. Thank you so much. My daughter showed me early this morning and I wrote it all down. It seems to have sent but I'm waiting for it to show up on my email. It hasn't yet but when it does I'll send it to you.

I never got them... they might have gotten caught in my spam filter. The problem is, I don't know what to look for and there are hundreds of messages... - can you tell me a part of your email address so I can search for it in my spam filter?

I got them, thanks. They are very beautiful. Are these watercolors?

I plan to create a directory called dreamweaver on the rialian.com server (it is not there yet - I'll let you know all the URLs when they're up and running).

I have a lot to learn... I noticed some of the intricate, tiny stitches in some of the crocheted items that I have - they would use one stitch and then switch to another one to get interesting effets. My grandmother's afghan has serveral different types of stsitches, all delicate and perfectly done... Of course, while she was alive I never thought to ask her how to do any of that (go me)...
