Definition I ran across (emphasis mine):

Archon

"In Gnostic belief, Archons were planetary rulers and guardians of the spiritual planes. The archons were associated with the seven visible planets, and percieved as agents of the Demiurge, predatory beings who inhibit spiritual awakening by convincing humanity of a false reality."

Actually, I think that the main perpetrators of 'false reality' are people - both the promoters of the reality and the believers/acceptors of the reality. If nobody buys into a manufactured reality, it will cease to exist.

"If nobody buys into a manufactured reality, it will cease to exist."

Great line! But then someone could argue that all realities are manufactured in some way. :)

I should probably insert the caveat "manufactured by us"! The underlying reality that was here before us, will no doubt be here long after we are gone!

I'm also not ruling out the possibility of beings such as Archons... but I think when I manage to live in the flow of the underlying Real, then interaction with the Unseen is perceived as beneficial rather than inimical/conspiratorial...

Maybe. Hopefully.

I don't really know!

I think "reality" as we define and perceive it from our individual physical senses will change dramatically when we die--little ripples. lol

I also think you're right. Who's to say an angel with wings can't also have horns? lol Human nature, in my opinion, tends to want to divide too much into binaries--good/bad, up/down, etc.. We limit ourselves by ourselves.

I'm not familiar with the Gnostic term Archons, yet maybe their "interference" is a part of the path to spiritual awakening? Perhaps being able to accept a "false reality" as an alternative reality opens our perceptions and acceptance/tolerance for others?

That's intriguing. "... yet maybe their "interference" is a part of the path to spiritual awakening?"

When I read this, I felt those "zingies" that I feel when I read/see/hear something that feels right...

"Perhaps being able to accept a 'false reality' as an alternative reality opens our perceptions and acceptance/tolerance of others?"

That one's more difficult but still feels right. If everyone is part of all that is, how could any reality be false.

It is not logical, says Mr. Spock, lol.

But yes, these are all good ways toward greater love and tolerance. I shall breathe, get a glass of water, and relax, see what new thing I can see...

Some people survive entirely on manufactured reality. They like to pretend that atrocities don't exist so that they don't have to feel selfish or guilty. They like to pretend that they're only one person, so changing is not going to help, so why bother. They prefer ignorance to knowledge if only b/c it delivers comfort.

At least, that's what I thought of when I read the phrase "false reality."

I guess it's kind of like a disease, in which killer mitochondria in a doomed eukaryotic cell decide to manufacture destructive heat instead of nourishment. Or something like that. Of course, if the eukaryote is scheduled to die, then the mitochondria are supposed to do that. So hm. I hope not. Anyway, that sounded like the title of a bad sci-fi... "The Attack of the Killer Mitochondria on the Lost Island of the Doomed Eukaryotes..."

Hey, if they can name a movie "Snakes on a Plane"...
