I have a couch that has the ability to put its occupants to sleep within about a half an hour. The funny thing is, they always deny that they're getting tired, right up to the time they lose consciousness. So one night about three months ago I was sitting on the couch reading, and within minutes, fell asleep. I woke up later to take out my contacts for the night - and they were already out. I was a little puzzled, since I didn't remember actually removing them - but I figured they were in the medicine cabinet where I usually put them.

But the next morning the contacts (and the case they were in) had vanished altogether. After looking everywhere in the house, I finally made an appointment with the optometrist... I never did find them (or the case). Three appointments, an order error, and two adjustments later, the lenses work perfectly! Yay! I can see!

I am convinced that somewhere in Maryland is a couch that can see too...

I know exactly what you're talking about - I've had that happen too. I turned my eyelids inside out trying to find the lenses in back of my eyeball, but to no avail. When no irritation developed, I concluded that normal explanations wouldn't explain it...

What I figure is that (being half asleep) I put them on the sink (a big nono). A cat then probably knocked it off the sink and into the toilet. Since I can't see anyway, I never turn on the light at night and probably flushed them.

Or the couch hid them somewhere...
