Someone pointed out to me that a quantum is the smallest possible jump, and so that might not be the best term to use, since a bigger leap is needed. I think paradigm shift probably says it better.

That is the official term, as I understand it.. there was a whole book written about how human progression works in 'paradigm shifts', were the human mind seems to suddenly leap into new directions, mya.
