The extent to which Kenyans have become part of my life in the past year is strange. My brother in law married a Kenyan girl last year. That wedding celebration looked a lot like the victory celebration in the video. There was a 6-piece band who played Kenyan music. We were each given one of the lucky wraps to wear for the dance and we were showed the proper way to tie it. There was much dancing and revelry throughout the night. Shortly after the wedding I began following the bad situation in Kenya since my sister in law's family lives there. And now this election. For better or for worse, the Kenyans appear to be here to stay for a while... I like them, but they have very strict societal conventions concerning family of which I am wholly ignorant, so I believe my sister in law thinks I am a barbarian (which is no doubt true, lol).

I can't watch the video because I'm at work, but this morning I read a wonderful article (I think on BBC) about Kenya showing signs of unity now, after contested elections in the past (or something... unfortunately I was only about half awake when I read it), and they declared a public holiday today.
