My car has the windows showing. The lump with the mirror was dhermit's car (which is why he stayed until about an hour ago). We just dug out his car and sent him on his way..
It usually doesn't snow like this around here - one or two inches is all we usually get. But every 25 years or so, something happens. It's a good thing too, because the feds and contractors in the DC area really need to *stop* for two or three days, and contemplate the relative unimportance of their priorities when the planet sneezes a little bit.
I heard about the snow on the Today show this morning. I hope you and Rialian are doing ok. Toss my area some of that snow. Maybe we could get enough to get me a day off for once. *chuckles*
Everything's ok - a couple of window frames began leaking - I think the ice melting slowly in the frozen gutters formed rivulets that seeped back under the eaves toward the house instead of going down the downspout (which was full of ice) or falling off the side. It was melting slowly enough that it could do that due to surface tension, I guess. I taped pitchers to the window where the leak was and siphoned the pitchers into a large bucket which I bailed periodically. Very scientific procedure...
Our family's beagle tried to go outdoors right after it snowed in 1979. Next thing we knew, all we could see of him was a little nose sniffing a path through the snow...
We've had a little snow here and there, but nothing like this for a long time. Last winter was anemic, resulting in an increase in mosquitoes that had me a bit concerned. This winter should take care of the problem...
Especially the huge, splay-legged, multicolored, bobbling, web-spewing, dangling, face-snagging, hair-jumping, blood-sucking arachno-bloats that spawn in the hotter climates... (no offense to all my friends who love spiders (*shudder*).

Date: 2003-02-17 10:53 pm (UTC)I was snowed in Silver Spring, MD (Rosemary, to be exacter) for the blizzard of '79, visiting relatives. This does seem blizzardier.
I hope all is well with you and yours.
