A way to get rid of people you don't want to see on your Friends Of list.

1. Make sure you're logged in
2. Go to http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/
3. Type ban_set username into the console

They magically disappear from your Friends Of list, never to be seen again, nor can they ever comment.

Thanks!

Thanks for the notice. It was very helpful in getting an offensive username off my journal list.

I don't suppose you could explain why you'd want to be able to do this? I really don't get it... can't we keep people out of our journals well enough using just filters, and the no-anonymous-comments or screen-nonfriends comments settings? I really don't understand what this lets us do that we couldn't already do. (Sorry if I'm being dense.)

a few things of interest regarding this:

it doesn't actually remove you from =their= friends list. this is a good thing in some ways; they won't notice it unless they go to your userinfo and look for their own name. now, you just KNOW that some OCD person is going to go through Every Single Friend of theirs to see who doesn't like them anymore. lol.

if you unban them, their name reappears.

i've used it to get rid of a few abandoned journals. there are a few people who friended me a long time ago; i have no idea who they are or from whence they came. they never comment in my journal, so i'm not sure they would even notice if i banned them.
