Before going to see Return of the King, I decided to watch the extended DVD of The Two Towers last night - I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a lot of good scenes that got cut. As usual, the lighthearted scenes that gave humor and added depth to the story, and provided contrast for the heavier scenes, were the first to go. I wish they wouldn't do that (but then they probably wouldn't sell as many extended DVDs!)

Unfortunately, Haldir still died, even in the extended DVD. Also to my chagrin, they failed to include the part where he wakes up intact in the halls of the Valar, shakes himself off, combs his hair, and says, "Whew! They all smelt so DREADFUL".

Having sat in a crowded theater to watch RotK tonight, I know exactly how he feels. Well. Minus the arrow in the gut, and all.

Relevantly, for thresholds this year, we need to create a new cocktail, and name it a 'Flaming Denethor'. Laffs.

We went to the 12:25 a.m. showing, and thus missed the main crowds. The line was oh, about 5 people long. Haha!

Unfortunately, the local Glen Burnie high school had decided to attend that showing, and they sat right in front of us. Although they behaved well for the most part, we still didn't like them on general principles. Therefore, last night, Muvico became ... the theater of the dead! We won't release them from their curse for millenia, or until they graduate highschool, whichever comes first.
