We finally got out to the woods yesterday - there was a strong pull to "get out of the house" though we had no clue where. "Drive North" seemed to feel best, so North we went. Then at some point we realized we'd "Passed It" (whatever "It" was). Turned off onto a side route and went back, and found a fantastic parkland. We got there just at twilight when will-wisps are dancing. The entrance to the park is full of people-things and buildings and tables. But as you walk a little ways in, the pavement and buildings stop, and there is ... quiet - openness - stillness - you can hear the leaves and the insects - the heart has room and is no longer squeezed. It was nice to take big lungfulls of air around the trees (kind of like drinking a wondrously refreshing elixir after being thirsty). We saw a beautiful lavender-pink sunset reflected on the lake, against a backdrop of woods and the sounds of a little stream skipping over the rocks. Much too soon, it was sunset (the park was closing). Some time we'll have to register as campers and stay all night.
