Just reading this project description, I understand the tears. I've found myself in similar reactionary straits reading what these folks (& others) have done:
The former owners of the property on which I live were so insensitive to the native landscape that they did very silly things to it that seems to have left the land in a sulky, shocked mood. I haven't had the energy to do much to properly return it to what it was and could again be, but urban homesteading always has been and continues to be my goal.
Oh, did Rialian ever pick up a copy of Worms Eat My Garbage?

Experiments in Sustainable Urban Living was one of my utter favorites, a delight and an inspiration that filled me with a sense of yearning that left me nodding and pointing *::that!::* -- I'm going to attempt to track down and recompile what information from them I can, for sadly the site's no more. There was so much there!
