Jan. 11th, 2007 09:39 pmFinally, someone who knows how to make Genmaicha the way I like it. I'd had Genmaicha about 10 years ago - it is green tea (plain) mixed with roasted, popped rice. The rice gives a roasted taste to the green tea. Anyway, every tea billed as "Genmaicha" that I'd tried since that first time just didn't taste right - they would add a flower or fruit flavoring that would ruin the whole thing. I just wanted plain green tea and popped rice - and that's it. Unfortunately, these guys don't have online ordering yet but I can phone in an order. http://www.oldflaspicetraders.com/teas/
"Kyoto green tea leaves are blended with popped and roasted rice, to make this a brothy infusion with a unique appeal."
Wonderful stuff. The rest of their offerings aren't bad either. We brought home a variety of tea and spices when we were there in November, and they're all very good.
