Odd pets

I was talking to aekiy earlier today, and I realized that the real reason I want to see cannabis legalized is not so I can smoke it (I never do), and not so I can use it for medical purposes (I don't have any conditions to make that necessary). In fact, I don't want to use it at all. What I really want is to be able to keep one as a pet. It would be more or less in captivity (with the freedom to roam the house, of course), so it wouldn't bother the neighbors. It would be a potted plant, so to speak. I wouldn't do anything with it, ever, just water it and give it plant-tastic treats once in a while to make sure it was leading a happy life. I would obey all leash laws in the county. It would be an honored guest in my home and would be kept safe from the cats, who have their own supply of catnip. It would be treated as an emissary from the plant kingdom, and a member of the family - I wouldn't treat it as a slave or a commodity. I wouldn't make a shirt out of it, put it in brownies, sell it, breed it, or splice its genes with kudzu. I wouldn't make rope, purses, fuel, or designer lip balm out of it. It would just be a companion. I could call it Millicent. Is this so wrong??!
