rialian.com out of space revisited

Mystery solved.

44,090 email messages stored on server.

rialian had forgotten to click the little checkbox in his email client to delete messages from server upon download... So we had 226 meg of spam stored in perpetuity upon rialian.com...

Of course, I didn't think of checking this until after my ISP/web host reminded me (in response to my frantically asking them if there was some huge, invisible file with tentacles in my documents area). So after a week of backing up and deleting all my journal pictures, (and a picture is worth 1000 words), I come to find out that the 226 offending meg were...

Poor rialian felt so bad... The scary thing is, the 44,090 email messages accumulated only since he set up the G3, which wasn't too long ago.

Now to start putting all my picture files back so my journals don't look like poor, bereft skeletons.

yldann journal pictures restored

I restored all the pretty pictures on yldann. Now I have to restore helen99, which has been in existence since September 5, 2001. Maybe I'll just restore the ones in the memories section. No, I hate broken links. I'll have to put all of them back.

Which means I'll have to check every post to see what the filenames were, so I don't post things I don't need. I think I'll create a folder called "journal pictures" and put them all in there, so I'll know which ones they are. Why didn't I do that before, one may ask. Because I'm lazy, plain and simple... I just posted and linked with no semblance of order.

If it's one thing a lazy librarian doesn't like, it's having the library turned upside down and shaken out...
