Beautiful but unidentifiable music...
Jul. 11th, 2003 10:02 amJust when I thought I'd identified most of the club music that I really wanted to get, I learned that I'm now going to have to embark on yet another endless quest to find the music I heard at the club last night. The background score could be described as "Deep Classical" while the voice was of the "Gravelly Demonic Sandpaper" variety. So ok, nobody else calls it that, and I have not a ghost's chance of identifying what it was unless I hear it again in a context where someone can hear me ask "What was that". The whole room was darkened and filled with colored mist, and we (the dancers) were involved in an intricate slow motion ballet while powerful images were evoked out of memory and imagination. It was wonderfully surreal.
Something odd has happened to Bella Morte, however (they were playing at the club last night). They totally sucked! I heard them a few years ago and they were otherworldly good - but last night they were just another penny-ante punk band. I think one of their members left - perhaps the one who was the driving force behind the "fae" feel they used to have. But that's ok - since as a result, I left the concert just in time to hear and dance to the above music in the next room.
Now I just have to find out what the hell it was...
