Luna dies

RIP little Luna..
She was 13 months old.
This was the one who was sprung from her cage by accident when Sithreal broke into the room where the mice are. She survived seven (7) cats on her way upstairs and hid out in [livejournal.com profile] rialian's pants. She was almost done in by the Great Goddess Ossana but was found by someone when they went upstairs for a moment. Then (to her relief or chagrin? I guess I'll never know) she was returned to the safety (and relative boredom) of her 10-gallon tank...

Wellp, she was the most vibrantly colored and sweetest tempered mouse I ever had. Sometimes I thought she wasn't a mouse at all...

She's survived by her "sister" Ramona, the transgendered mouse. If she was a she. She never did have any babies though "she" lived with Ramona all her life.

It was very quick, anyways. She had been getting thinner and bonier and had slowed down a lot this past month so I was expecting it, and I'm glad she was still able to get around on her own until she died. Still... I wish I could get certain of my favorite mice to live their purported 2-1/2 year lifespans, but so far 15 months has been the record.

Thanks.. I'll start bringing Poppy out now that Luna is gone - she's very pretty too. Poppy is getting more trusting as she gets older. It seems to take them several months to realize I won't eat them.

Eh well. She accomplished much in her life. She gave me lots of hand cuddles and avoided being Lunch. Most mice can't really say as much for themselves...

The Mouse Life Span (or lack thereof) strikes again. I'm glad she stayed a while though - it was great finally having a mouse who seemed to actually like me...

Thanks.. One good thing about micies is that they seem to live on in their relatives, somehow. It's much easier to find an identical Luna, even with the same personality traits, than it is to find an identical Sithreal, for example...

Finding an identical snakey is even easier than that. My original candy corn snake Asherah died a couple of years ago, and I found another, identical snake and called it Asherah Version 2. I really can't tell the difference. Eventually the Version 2 part just faded away...

Yes well - I'm sure now that she has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge (TM) it's much better. No more ten-gallone tank, no more rickety bones. And stuff. If there is a rainbow bridge, which there probably isn't but well, you know.

I have more tame mice if your daughter would like a pet... She was funny. When I offered to take her to see the mice, she asked, "are those feeder mice?" And I said no. She said, "oh drat" or something like that, and smiled evilly. She'd make a great mouse owner!

She'd probably love that but my wife has a problem with mice, rats and snakes. :-D Something about the long tail. She did, however, encourage me to get Morgan a hamster named Teddy.

**hugs**
